Google Pixel 4a with 12-megapixel camera, 6GB RAM launched: Specs, features and more

The smartphone will be arriving to the US, UK and select other countries soon. However, in India, it will be coming in October this year.

Google, after months of building up hype, has finally unveiled its ‘affordable' Pixel smartphone of the year – Pixel 4a. The handset is said to be the toned-down version of Pixel 4 that launched last year but unfortunately, was not introduced in India. 

There re three versions of Pixel 4a. While the non-5G version is coming to India, the other two 5G Pixel smartphones won't be launched here. The handset will be going on sale in the US, UK and select other countries first. However, in India, it will be coming in October this year. The smartphone costs $399, roughly ₹30,000 but it could cost more when it launches in India.

Also, there's no ‘XL' model this time.

As a follow up to last year's Pixel 3a, the brand-new Pixel 4a comes with host of new features and a slight bump in the design as well.

The highlight of Pixel 4a is its camera capabilities, most of which has been brought from the flagship Pixel 4. There is a 12.2-megapixel rear camera with Dual Pixel tech, HDR support and OIS. The camera comes with Portrait Mode, Top Shot, Night Sight with astrophotography and fused video stabilization features. At the front, there is an 8-megapixel wide-angle selfie camera with 84-degree field of view.

There is a 5.8-inch FHD+ resolution OLED screen with HDR+ support and a punch hole design. Powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G, the smartphone features128GB inbuilt storage and 6GB RAM with eSIM support. 

Pixel 4a is backed by a 3140mAh battery, which also supports 18W fast charging via USB Type-C port, and adaptive battery. Besides this, you get Titan M security and physical fingerprint sensor at the back. It also has stereo speakers. Some other features are Live Caption in videos across apps, 3 years of OS updates and audio recording via Google Assistant.
