Google Pixel 4a vs Apple iPhone SE 2020 vs Samsung Galaxy S20: Here’s how Google’s budget phone compares with the rest

Google has finally launched its budget Pixel 4a smartphone. Here's how it fares against the competition.

It's finally here! Google, after nearly three months of delay, launched its budget Pixel 4a smartphone today. The Pixel 4a is the successor to the Pixel 3a that was launched at Google I/O 2019. However, unlike the Pixel 3a series, which consisted of only the 4G models, the newly launched Pixel 4a comes in three variants -- two 5G models and a 4G model.

As far as availability in India is concerned, Google will launch the 4G variant of the Pixel 4a in India in October this year. It will be available for purchase in India via Flipkart.

It's some time before the Pixel 4a makes its way to India. Ahead of the phone's India launch, here's how the Pixel 4a fare against the competition:

Design

The newly launched Google Pixel 4a comes with a 5.8-inch OLED display. It is available in Just Black colour variant with a matte finish. It has a punch-hole display that is stacked towards the left side of the display.

Apple's budget iPhone, that is the iPhone SE 2020, on the other hand, comes with a 4.7-inch HD display with thick bezels on the top and a home screen button at the bottom. It is available in Black, White and Red colour variants.

The Samsung Galaxy S20 has a 6.2-inch dynamic AMOLED display. It comes with a centre-stacked punch-hole display and it is available in Grey, Blue and Pink colour variants.

Performance

The Pixel 4a is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G processor that is coupled with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage space. It comes with a 3,140mAh with support for 18W fast charging technology.

The iPhone SE 2020, on the other hand, is powered by A13 Bionic SoC that is coupled with up to 256GB of storage space. Apple claims that its budget iPhone offers the same battery as that offered by the iPhone 8.

The Galaxy S20 is powered by Exynos 990 processor that is coupled with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage space. It comes with a 4,000mAh battery.

Camera

On the battery front, the Pixel 4a comes with a 12.2MP rear camera and an 8MP wide-angle lens with 84-degree field of view. The iPhone SE 2020 has a 12MP wide-angle lens at the back and a 7MP selfie camera. The Galaxy S20, on the other hand, comes with 12MP + 64MP + 12MP rear camera setup and a 10MP front-facing camera.

Price

Google has launched the Pixel 4a globally at a starting price of $349 ( ₹26,240 approximately). It should be available in India in a price range of ₹30,000 to ₹40,000. We'll know more about the phone's price closer to its launch date.

The iPhone SE 2020, on the other, comes at a starting price of ₹42,500, while the Galaxy S20 costs ₹70,499 in India.
