Reliance Jio last month announced it's with Google for a low-cost Android smartphone. Jio already offers low-cost 4G smart feature phones in its Jio Phone lineup. The telco is now planning to launch affordable 4G smartphones, and possibly even 5G smartphones. What's speculated to be the upcoming Jio Android smartphone has been spotted on the Google Play Console listing.

According to the Google Play Console Listing, the company is working on a smartphone with the codename ‘Orbic RC545L'. The smartphone is listed with Qualcomm's Snapdragon QM215 chipset paired with Adreno 306 GPU. It has an HD+ (720 x 1440 pixels) resolution, and runs Android 10. The phone's possible design is also listed showing a thick-bezel smartphone. This listing was first spotted by tipster Mukul Sharma.

This supposed “Jio Orbic” smartphone was recently spotted on the US FCC website as well. It was listed along with two more Orbic 5G phones and one with 4G. This was shared on Twitter by tipster Abhishek Yadav to which a person replied that it's actually from the US-based Reliance Communications. The company does sell an Orbic Android smartphone and tablet in the US. So it's best to take this information with a grain of salt.

But Jio is definitely working on a low-cost Android smartphone, and it could cost around 4,000, Bloomberg reported. The smartphone will also be launched with low-cost plans from Jio. The report added that Jio is planning to make around 200 million of these Android smartphones over the next two years.
