Samsung brings 'Offline Finding' feature in smartphones to more users

Samsung is expanding its Offline Search support to more customers as a part of the latest version of Samsung's Find My Mobile app. This means you can find your lost Samsung phone even if the device doesn't have an internet connection. If you are on the app version 7.2.05.44, you probably have this feature. Once installed, it will prompt you to enable this feature as well, reports Android Police.

Once you toggle it on, the feature will not just find the lost Galaxy device if it comes in contact but will also let other Galaxy devices find your handset too. It is all based on crowdsourced location system. It is worth adding that this feature will work with Galaxy Watches and earbuds. It also has an "encrypt offline location" setting but the information on what it does is scarce at the moment.

This feature was found by XDA's Max Weinbach back in August. In the screenshot showing the feature settings, it was clearly mentioned that "This will allow your phone to be found by other people's Galaxy devices even when it's not connected to a network. It will also allow your phone to be used to scan for lost Galaxy devices that may be nearby. You can also find watches and earbuds if this was the last device they connected to."

Apple launched a similar feature like this last year with iOS 13. Called ‘Find My', the feature allowed users to find their misplaced iPhones even if they were offline.
