Samsung's Galaxy S20 series made waves in the smartphone market earlier this year, like it always does because of the features and specs it carries. This year, it was the Galaxy S20 Ultra's camera capabilities that included a 108-megapixel sensor. All of them had the ToF sensor as well. But it looks like there will be a surprising change in the next-gen Galaxy S series handsets. Tipped as Galaxy S21, the smartphone is rumoured to miss out on the ToF (Time of Flight) sensor. In case you missed it, even the Galaxy Note 20 series misses out on ToF sensor.

As per a report coming from South Korea, Samsung is dropping ToF sensor from the rumoured S21 since there isn't enough use cases of it right now. As mentioned in the report, the ToF system used by Samsung is not the same one created by Sony. Since the latter is in exclusive deal with Apple, you can only find those ToF sensors in iPhones.

But this doesn't mean you won't see this tech in any of the Samsung phones ever. It has been mentioned that the company's System LSI Business department is currently working on a sensor that will improve upon the ToF tech. But it might still take time to arrive in smartphones. Samsung might just also wait for some more time and release the rumoured ToF tech at the right time, based on the market needs.

Talking about Samsung Galaxy S21 cameras, the smartphone, as per a recent report was said to bring OIS for selfie cameras. This tech, which is currently not there in any smartphone, will bring a major difference the selfie image and video quality. Of course, all this is not confirmed.
