The US sanctions have seriously hurt Huawei's business plans this year, but it has not stopped the Chinese company from pushing its AppGallery, which aims to rival Google's Play Store and Apple's App Store. Huawei is now looking to woo indie game developers with a new funding programme and other benefits.

The company has set up a €30,000 ( 26, 55,000 approximately) credit pool for the 30 developers whose games are shortlisted, reports Gizmochina (via cnTechpost), Huawei is also offering extra benefits to developers for publishing games on AppGallery through its Unity Distribution. These benefits are available between November 19 and December 14.

Additional incentives include 85% IAP revenue share for game developers for the first two years. The company is also giving VIP technical support during the process of onboarding. The 30 developers shortlisted under the credit pool programme will receive support to launch their first campaigns. Top indie games will also be featured on a dedicated ‘Indie Game' section on the AppGallery.

Huawei's push to indie developers is clearly aimed at making its AppGallery more popular. As of now, Google's Play Store is the largest app store in the world. Google's app store thrives on millions of Android smartphones across the world as well as a big developer community. Huawei also enjoys a big user base as the company shipped more than 240 million smartphones in 2019. The company also claims AppGallery has grown to become the third-largest app store in the world with 500 million monthly active users. Can Huawei's survive long enough without Google Mobile Services? Time will tell.
