Spotify Wrapped 2020: Here’s what Indians listened to the most this year

Arijit Singh, Tanishk Bagchi and Neha Kakkar continue to dominate the most streamed artists space this year, while BTS emerges as the only intertanational act in the top artists rank.

Spotify Wrapped 2020 is here. Spotify has shared what Indians have listened to the most this year. The year has drastically changed for all of us but one thing that's been constant is music, and it looks like some of the Spotify favourites have also manged to maintain their positions. 

Arijit Singh, Tanishk Bagchi and Neha Kakkar continue to dominate the most streamed artists space this year. Arijit Singh's Shayad is the most streamed song followed by Trevor Daniel's Falling. Ghungroo bagged the third position with Tujhe Kitna Chahne Lage taking the fourth spot. Another predictable winner is Makhna which became the fifth most streamed song on Spotify in India.

A notable mention is BTS which is the only international act to feature in the top 5 artists list. BTS is the fourth most streamed artist on Spotify in India. BTS's Map of the Soul: 7 is also the third most streamed album among Spotify listeners in India. Justin Bieber's Changes also ranked fifth among the most-streamed albums on Spotify. In fact, 60% of the top 10 albums this year on Spotify feature international artists.

Spotify also listed out the top five most streamed female artists in India. It includes only local names featuring Neha Kakkar, Shreya Ghoshal, Asees Kaur, Tulsi Kumar, and Dhvani Bhanushali.

Podcasts were also big this year on Spotify with TED Talks Daily, The Ranveer Show, and On Purpose with Jay Shetty becoming the most streamed podcasts in India. Podcast genres that are most popular among Indians include education, lifestyle and health, society and culture, arts and entertainment, business and technology.

When it comes to global ranks, Bad Bunny, Drake, J Balvin, Juice WRLD and The Weeknd are the most streamed artists on Spotify. The Weeknd whose zero Grammy nomination has left everyone bewildered, had the most streamed song with Blinding Lights. The Weeknd's After Hours also ranked second among the most streamed albums globally.

TED Talks Daily is a podcast favourite in India, and globally having ranked second in the most popular podcasts list. The Joe Rogan Experience is the most streamed podcast globally this year even after having launched only in September this year.

Spotify plans to introduce more features soon including its personalised listener Wrapped and Creator Wrapped experiences.
