Samsung launches the Galaxy Watch 3

The Samsung Galaxy Watch 3 comes in two sizes - 41mm and 45mm - and will be available from August 6 in specific countries.

The Galaxy Unpacked event saw the launch of the Samsung Galaxy Watch 3 besides all the other devices. Launched in two sizes - 41mm and 45mm models. Available in select countries from August 6, the 41mm Galaxy Watch 3 will come in Mystic Bronze and Mystic Silver, while the Galaxy Watch 45mm variant will be available in Mystic Silver and Mystic Black. The Galaxy Watch Titanium variant (Mystic Black) will be available later this year.

Prices for the Samsung Galaxy Watch 3 start from $399.99 ( ₹29,921 approx). The 41mm model costs $399 for the Bluetooth variant and $449 ( ₹33,585 approx) for the LTE version. The 45mm model costs $429 ( ₹32,089 approx) for the Bluetooth version and $479 ( ₹35,829 approx) for the LTE version. 

The larger model has a 1.4-inch round touchscreen coupled with a 340mAh battery. The smaller variant comes with a 1.2-inch display with a 247mAh battery. Both models come with AMOLED displays with Corning Gorilla Glass protection.

You can choose from over 80,000 watch faces in the Galaxy Store, or design your own. A library of 40 different complications allows you to personalise your watch face with the information that's most important to you. 

There is also a feature to customise the watch face to match your clothes - all you need to do is to take a picture of your clothes and use the Wearables app and customise the watch face with some set pattern templates in matching colours. 

It is going to be available in two variants - Bluetooth and only and an LTE option.

The circular dial on the Galaxy Watch 3 comes with a rotating bezel, two buttons on the side along with the microphone placed on the side of the dial. The Galaxy Watch 3 comes with an atmospheric pressure sensor, GPS antennae, light sensor, touchscreen and speakers. There are the pressure vent and the heart rate sensor on the back and the sleep monitoring feature.

The smartwatch also comes with an ECG monitor, 5ATM and IP68 water and dust resistant certifications. There is also a fall-detection feature on the smartwatch that sends an emergency message to a contact of your choice if you suffer a fall and are unresponsive for more than a minute. The fall detection feature triggers your watch to ring for a minute and if you are unable to turn it off in that time, the emergency message is sent.

With the Galaxy Watch 3 you can receive a call by clenching and unclenching your fist and rotate your wrist to mute alarms or incoming calls. 

The Samsung Galaxy Watch 3 will run on the latest iteration of Tizen OS, with up to 1GB of RAM, up to 8GB of built-in storage and Exynos 9110 Dual core 1.15 GHz. 

The Galaxy Watch 3 is compatible with smartphones running Android 5.0 and above and with iPhones starting from the iPhone 5 and up and running iOS 9. 0 and up.
