GTE Bengaluru: Showcases New Garment Machines

Bengaluru, the city known for its IT industry, is one of the most important silk and garment manufacturing hubs in India, with more than 2500 garment manufacturers and exporters, employing more than 5,00,000 workers. Today, overseas buyers view Bengaluru as an important location for sourcing value-added garments after New Delhi and Mumbai. Total garment production here is more than Rs. 3,800 crore, of which 65 percent is exported and the rest is consumed by the local Indian market. Today, most of the leading apparel brands have their manufacturing facilities in Bengaluru and nearby districts like Bellary, Belgaum, Shimoga, and Dharwad.

Moreover, many textile manufacturing hubs in southern India, like Tirupur, Erode, Karur, Salem, and Coimbatore, are also very well connected with Bengaluru through roads and railways. In the past few years, more than 12 apparel and textile parks have been announced, and the Govt. of Karnataka plans many more for the coming years. All this makes Bengaluru an important garment-manufacturing hub in India.

Looking at this, the Garment Technology Expo (GTE) started here in 2006. Today, GTE Bengaluru edition stands at the threshold of its 36th edition, which will be held from 20–22 September at Gayatri Vihar, Palace Grounds. This is South India’s most comprehensive garment technology expo, showcasing anything and everything related to garment making. It is one of the most trusted brands as far as exhibitions related to garment technology are concerned. The biggest industry show covers all segments of the industry, right from the latest apparel technology to spare parts & consumables; from infrastructure set-up to the latest processes & systems; from raw materials to trimmings; from logistics & packaging solutions. It aims to offer a complete sourcing platform for apparel manufacturers with world-class products and services.

The GTE Bengaluru edition is held every alternate year and is also growing in stature and reach with each show. Looking at the growing demand from the industry, this edition will have a special zone for Garment Accessories and Trimmings (GAT Zone). In the Garment Accessories & Trimming Zone garment manufacturers can find all kinds of trims and embellishments required for their garments.

The GTE exhibition is now considered the best launchpad for introducing innovations, technology upgrades, new materials, processes, and services for the garment and knitting industries in India. Hence, it is the best platform to introduce new technologies, services, and processes, as well as build new relationships and business alliances where buyers and sellers interact directly. This is the best place to position and promote your brand.

According to Ricky Sahni, Joint Managing Director, “This edition will have more than 200 brands and companies participating from all over the world." The show has a perfect mix of participants representing all segments of garment technology. This year we are also going to have a special zone for fabrics and garment accessories and trimmings. Many new companies are participating and launching their new automation for garment making. I am sure visitors will find it very useful.”

According to Ambrish Chopra, Director, “We are coming back to Gayatri Palace Grounds, which is in the heart of Bengaluru. The show will be bigger in terms of the number of participating brands and overall space compared to our last edition here. The timing of this show is perfect, as industry is back on track after elections and many factories are planning to expand or upgrade their manufacturing facilities. Apart from Bengaluru, we are also inviting companies from nearby states like Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Telangana, and Andhra.”
