CD Projekt’s Cyberpunk 2077 announced on Wednesday that the big bug fix update also known as patch 1.2 would not be coming until “the second half of March” the company posted on Twitter. The news follows the company’s previous announcement that it had been targeted by a massive ransomware attack.

Stating that the studio needed “some additional time”, the patch which was supposed to be released this month looks like it is still being worked on by the developers. After a rough initial rollout of the highly awaited game and issues with both the console and PC versions, CD Project had announced on Feb 9 that it was the victim of a ransomware attack.

Don't miss: Cyberpunk 2077 maker CD Projekt's servers, data targeted by ransomware attackers

The attackers had allegedly claimed that they had made copies of not only CD Projekt’s internal source code, but also documents related to their accounting, administration, finance, legal, HR, and investor relations which they threatened to release. CD Projekt said they would “not give in to the demands nor negotiate with the actor” and that they were aware that it might lead to the release of the compromised data.

The patch is expected to fix the main, bothersome bug ironically introduced by the version 1.1 patch (which fixed a lot of issues, while also breaking the game entirely) prevents the storyline from progressing when your character is supposed to receive a call from another person called Takemura - but never does.

“Our goal for Patch 1.2 goes beyond any of our previous updates. We’ve been working on numerous overall quality improvements and fixes, and we still have work to do to make sure that’s what you get. With that in mind, we’re now aiming for release in the second half of March, the company said on Twitter.

Less than a week later after the company released modding tools, it had cautioned users against using mods from “unknown sources” after they discovered a vulnerability in external DLL files that the game relied on, which could be used to execute code on PCs. The company had then promised that the “issues will be fixed ASAP” but it looks like any fix will be coming only at the end of March. While PC users could still try to find workarounds, users who bought the game on consoles have no option but to wait for a fix.
