Nintendo Switch finally gets Bluetooth audio support after latest firmware update

Looks like this was a long time coming and a much-awaited upgrade. You can finally pair your Nintendo Switch with a Bluetooth audio device following the latest firmware update. From now, once Nintendo Switch owners update their gaming device to the latest software can pair a wireless Bluetooth device to the Switch for better audio. Clearly, this was something the Switch could already do “given the right software patch”.

For this Switch owners need to download the latest firmware patch and update the device. Post that you will be able to spot a Bluetooth Audio option within the System Settings page. Here, once you click on “Pair”, your Switch is going to look for available Bluetooth audio devices to connect with one of them. Please note that the Switch can only be synced with one audio device at a time but it can save up to 10 devices on the system to pair with later as and when needed.

And this is not all that the latest firmware update brings to the Switch. It also includes the ability to update the software on the Switch dock. However, this applies only to the new docks which come with a LAN port that’s included with the Switch OLED model. Also, when paired to a Bluetooth audio device, the Switch can connect to only two wireless controllers at one time. To be able to connect another wireless controller to the Switch, you will need to disconnect the Bluetooth audio device. And Bluetooth microphones are not compatible with the Switch, in case you were hopeful.

The fact that the number of wireless controllers you can attach to the Switch gets limited thanks to Bluetooth audio support, could be one of the reasons why Nintendo never enabled this particular feature on the device. Since the Bluetooth audio support feature was not available for all this while, Switch owners had to use third-party adapters to connect their Bluetooth headphones to the Switch. With the latest update you can connect pretty much any Bluetooth headphone, or any other Bluetooth audio device, you want to the Switch and get playing.
