Over 3 lakh Battlegrounds Mobile India accounts banned in Krafton crackdown

Even as new PUBG avatar, Battlegrounds Mobile India, swiftly approaches the 50 million download mark, Krafton has launched a crackdown to boot out cheats from the game. The company has revealed its first anti-cheating report for Battlegrounds Mobile India, including how many players were banned by the company. Battlegrounds Mobile is currently, at the second position on the Play Store’s top-grossing games list, just behind the other popular battle royale game Garena Free Fire.

According to Krafton’s first anti-cheating report posted on its website, the company has banned over 3,36,736 accounts. These players were caught cheating on Battlegrounds Mobile India between July 30 and August 5. The company said that it had collected and investigated cases through its security system and community monitoring, before permanently banning the offending accounts. It remains to be seen whether Krafton continues to publish these reports on a regular basis, although it is saying this is likely to continue.

The company stated that it would strive to implement “strong sanctions” in the game as part of its goal to get rid of “illegal programs” being used on the game. “Permanent banning is conducted everyday, and we would like to inform you about the number of banned accounts through this notice,” the company stated on the website. The global version of the game, PUBG Mobile, also regularly suspends or deletes accounts found cheating in the game.

One of the biggest challenges of online gaming platforms is cheating, where some players misuse loopholes in the game or use additional software and scripts to gain an unfair advantage over other players in the game. We reported in February that Call of Duty: Warzone had banned 60,000 cheaters in a single day. Platforms that feature battle royale games like Battlegrounds Mobile India and Call of Duty Mobile usually have many gamers that try to ‘hack’ the game to be more successful, which can ruin the experience for other players on the game.
