Google Nest Hub Max now supports Duo and Meet group video calls

Google has rolled out support for group video calls on its Nest Hub Max smart display. Group video calling is available on Google Duo and Meet. This feature will be available first to users in the US.

Google Nest Hub Max has supported video calls but only for one-on-one conversations.Google is rolling out Duo group calls to other smart displays like LG XBOOM AI ThinQ, JBL Link View and Lenovo’s 8-inch and 10-inch smart displays.

On Google Duo, users can make group calls with up to 32 people. Users will have to first create groups in the Google Duo app on their phone. After this is sorted, just use this command, “Hey Google, make a group call.” If you have more than one Duo group you’ll be asked to choose from the list. Google Duo on Nest Hub Max also supports auto-framing so you can move around while remaining in view during the group video call.

Similarly for Google Meet calls on Nest Hub Max you can say, “Hey Google, start a meeting.” You can also join a meeting by saying, “Hey Google, join a meeting.” Then you’ll be asked to enter the meeting code. If you already have Google Meet calls synced to your Google Calendar then you can instantly join one by saying, “Hey Google join my next meeting.”

In addition to this, Google is rolling out beta support for G Suite accounts to host work meetings on their Nest Hub Max. G Suite admins can join the beta programme for Meet calls on behalf of their domains. Another update is adding household contacts on Google smart speakers and displays. Once you add your household contacts in the list you can simply ask Google to call that person or you can choose from the list.
