The Flipkart Big Saving Days sale has begun and as always, all eyes on the iPhone deals. While the most popular iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 aren’t getting any price relaxations, it is the iPhone 12 Mini that’s sitting with a massive deal. In comparison to the prices you see for the iPhone 12 Mini on IndiaiStore and Apple Online Store, Flipkart is offering a massive price cut during the sale. If you are looking to a buy a iPhone that costs less than Rs. 50,000, this looks like a stellar deal.
The iPhone 12 Mini usually sells for a price close to Rs. 56,900 without sale offers. However, the iPhone 12 Mini on Flipkart is sitting with a massive price cut of Rs. 14,901. Note that this price of ₹41,999 applies to the base 64GB variant. Flipkart hasn’t put the 128GB variant of the iPhone 12 Mini on sale but makes the 256GB variant available. Hence, this is more of a stock clearance sale and we may not see such lower prices for this iPhone ever.
Despite having such a massive price cut, the iPhone 12 Mini is a difficult proposition to consider. And here are the reasons why.
-The iPhone 12 Mini draws a lot of attention for its compact dimensions. However, smaller dimensions also translate to a very cramped display. At 5.4-inches, the iPhone 12 Mini’s display is too small for doing recreational things such as watching videos or browsing social media. The issue is magnified with the large display notch.
-The compact dimensions also bring along the issue of a smaller battery capacity. On the iPhone 12 Mini, the battery life is barely enough to make it to a full day if you use your phone a lot. 2-3 hours of screen-on-time isn’t enough for today’s needs.
-Along with the smaller battery, the charging speeds on the iPhone 12 Mini are slow, which magnifies the battery issue. Only Apple’s 20W charger can top it up at the fastest speeds, which itself does not come in the box. The MagSafe accessories and chargers can only charge it at slower 12W speeds instead of the 15W standard speeds.
That said, those seeking a compact iPhone will like what the iPhone 12 Mini has to offer. The A14 Bionic chip is capable of running anything and you can expect at least 5 years of iOS updates. The cameras are good and the display, despite being small, looks great, especially when you see Dolby Vision content.
