Apple, NTT Docomo reach deal on iPad sales

Apple has reached an agreement with Japanese telecom operator NTT Docomo for iPad sales in Japan, the companies said Wednesday.

Apple has reached an agreement with Japanese telecom operator NTT Docomo for iPad sales in Japan, the companies said Wednesday.

The iPad Air and iPad mini with Retina display will be available on June 10, the companies said.

'With the addition of iPad alongside iPhone, we now offer the complete lineup of Japan's most popular mobile devices on the nation's most reliable LTE network,' said Kaoru Kato, president and chief executive of the big carrier.

Until now, Japanese consumers could buy the iPad only through two smaller carriers Softbank and KDDI.

NTT Docomo has some 63 million customers in Japan.
