Android update: Amid all the major highlights of the Google I/O 2022, some small but important announcements were not talked about much. However, they will have a pretty big impact. One such announcement was made during the keynote where it was revealed that Google will show more love for its bigger screens. The tech giant is planning to focus on the appearance of apps on tablets. This fits in with the running theme of the event, which focused more on design language and personalized interface. So, if you use a tablet that runs on Android, you will soon see some visual changes to the biggest Google apps including Google Chrome, Google Maps, Gmail and more. The Google I/O had a wide array of announcements where it not only revealed new products like Google Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro, Google Pixel Watch, Pixel Buds Pro but also promised many changes to Android 13 itself. And a major part of the discussion was on making Android more personalized through design innovation. From home page apps picking up the wallpaper’s colors to multi language displays, it was all about the immersion of appearance and convenience. But this has not remained limited to smartphones. Google apps to get a major makeover for Tablets

Among the Google apps which are set to get a huge makeover in the coming android updates, the biggest ones remain Google Chrome, Gmail, Google Maps, Google Duo, Calculator, YouTube Music, Files app, Family link app and more. There are some apps where we know exactly what the changes will be, while in others we are still waiting to hear from Google on what they have in mind. Regardless, we do know that almost all of Google-powered apps will be getting some sort of visual change to fit in better on bigger screens. Here is all we know so far. Google Chrome – Google Chrome is one of the few apps which already gives a good experience on tablets. However, it will get a boost on its multitasking features and a better look is expected for when you have multiple tabs open.

Gmail – Gmail will get a utility change. Users will get a drawer button on the top for easy access to their folders and labels in Gmail.

Google Maps – Google maps offer a split view on tablets. But now, it appears that Google will be shifting the bottom bar to the left to allow a better view.

Files app – The Files app will get a vertical interface in order to make it more accessible and functionally better.

Calculator – It will get a new layout with a two-column view to have more buttons and operation tools at the fingertips of the users.

Family Link app – The navigation drawer is getting a revamp and will get a different look and new features.

Google Duo – The video-calling app will get more centralized controls for easier maneuverability on larger displays.

YouTube Music – The app will also get a double column view and a navigation rail to make the entire box compact and to allow more features on the screen.
