Instagram has rolled out a new feature called ‘Guides’ that is aimed at giving users recommendations and tips from select creators, public figures and organisations.
With Covid-19 pandemic taking a toll on users’ health, the photo-sharing platform said that it is debuting the feature with focus on wellness and mental-health related content including tips on how to look after your well-being, maintaining connection with others or managing anxiety or grief among things.
The company said that it is partnering with creators and organisations such as AFSP National, Heads Together, Vita Alere, Klicksafe, Headspace, Deepika Padukone, SudahDong and e-Enfance among others to bring wellness and mental health related content for the users.
To view a Guide users will have to visit the profiles of the participating creators and tap on the middle icon to view their Guides. Instagram says that in the coming days users will also be able to access Guides from their favourite content creators within the Explore tab.
“When viewing a Guide, you can see posts and videos that the creator has curated, paired with helpful tips and advice. If you want to learn more about a specific post, you can tap on the image or video to view the original Instagram post,” Instagram wrote in a blog post.
Apart from viewing a Guide, users can also share Guides by content creators within their profiles with their friends. This can be done via the app’s Stories and Direct features.
For now Guides will focus on content pertaining to well. However, it is possible that the company expands this to other topics in the future.
