Reliance Jio on Friday announced that it was partnering with TED in a bid to counter climate change. As a part of the partnership, the Mukesh Ambani-led company has joined TED’s Countdown initiative.
To give you some idea about TED’s Climate Countdown Initiative, it is a global initiative that focuses on accelerating solutions to the climate crisis for turning ideas into action. The goal, as the company explains, is “to build a better future by cutting greenhouse gas emissions in half by 2030 in the race to a zero-carbon world – a world that is safer, cleaner and fairer for everyone.”
As a part of its initiative, TED is inviting every organisation, company, city and country to collaborate with Countdown and take action on the threat posed by climate change. Countdown seeks to answer five fundamental, interconnected questions that help form a blueprint for a cleaner future.
Coming back to Reliance Jio’s partnership with TED, the Indian conglomerate said that Jio in association with TED is bringing together scientists, activists, entrepreneurs, urban planners, farmers, CEOs, investors, artists, government officials, and others to find the most effective, evidence-based ideas. The goal, as Jio explained, is to identify bold solutions that can be activated when people break out of their silos and rise together to the challenge.
The company is supporting TED’s Climate Countdown initiative by helping it reach a larger audience via its digital platforms. TED app is available on JioStore for Jio set-top box users. This would allow the initiative to reach over one million households in India. As far as the event is concerned, it will be live-streamed on October 10 and Jio users can access it via https://countdown.ted.com/, or the link through JioPages on the Jio Set Top Box. Post the event, users would also have quick access to talks on Climate Change via JioPages.
