Moto Watch 100S leaks and this is what it brings to us

Back in the day, Motorola kickstarted the trend of smartwatches with its Moto Wear 360. After being absent for a while, Motorola is coming back to this segment with a Moto Watch 100S. Supposed to be Motorola's “affordable” smartwatch, leaks had presented this one to compete with the multitude of affordable wearables. Now, we have more details on this one.

The Moto Watch 100S has leaked, complete with its official renders. This suggests a launch that could happen in the next few weeks. This one is supposed to run on Google's Wear OS platform and utilise the Snapdragon Wear 4100 chip, just like the Fossil Gen 6. There are a couple of difference, however.

The leaked renders via 91Mobiles reveals a butch design with think bezels. However, there is no rotating bezel here like you get on the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 Classic. A 1.3-inch circular LCD display is present here with a resolution of 360 x 360 pixels.

The watch is said to have a 355mAh battery but nothing on the charging technology. It will be made of aluminum and have a water resistance rating of 5ATM. As for the sensor collection, the Moto Watch 100 will feature a heart rate sensor, accelerometer, gyroscope, HRM, SP02, and ambient light sensors. It will have GPS tracking onboard too. The watch will be able to track sleep data as well.

There's no confirmation on whether the Moto Watch 100S will run on Google's Wear OS platform, or use a proprietary operating system with a own partner app. Given that Motorola usually relies on Google's iteration of Android on its phones, the Moto Watch 100S could come with Wear OS 2.

What remains to be seen is whether the Moto Watch 100S will make it to India. The Indian wearables market has seen a lot of smartwatch launches lately, especially from the smartphone manufacturers. The most affordable Wear OS watch you can buy in India right now is the Oppo Watch that was launched last year.

Will Motorola be able to undercut all the WearOS watches in India with this one? Or will it join the ranks of Fossil watches? We will have to wait and see.
