Battlegrounds Mobile India launch problem? Yet another MP raises concerns against PUBG Mobile alternative

Battlegrounds Mobile India is expected to launch as early as next week. But there have been concerns raised about the PUBG Mobile alternative by government officials.

Krafton is gearing up to launch Battlegrounds Mobile India, the alternative to PUBG Mobile India. Battlegrounds Mobile India date of launch has not been rvealed and there is much guess-work going on. The game has been developed keeping in mind the Indian audience with India-centric customisations and features. Battlegrounds Mobile India will also be exclusive to India. An though Krafton is yet to announce Battlegrounds Mobile India launch date, fans are already excited as can be seen from the fact that the game has received over 20 million pre-registrations. However, the game is also receiving a lot of backlash with requests to the government to stop the launch from happening.

Arvind Dharampuri, Member of Parliament from Nizamabad (Telangana) has written to the IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad about the Battlegrounds Mobile India, according to a report by Zee News. In the letter, Dharampuri mentioned that issues of Battlegrounds Mobile India that are of “serious nature and need examination.” These issues are said to be about international data transfers despite data being stored in India. It also highlighted that the Terms of Service of the game will be governed by Krafton's home country South Korea. The request also involves looking into Krafton's investments and agreements with Tencent.

This is the third time that issues against Battlegrounds Mobile India have been raised by government officials. Arunachal Pradesh MLA Ninong Ering and MP Abhishek Singhvi had called for a ban on Battlegrounds Mobile India citing relations between Chinese-owned Tencent and Krafton. There hasn't been any official response from the government or from Krafton on this matter yet.

PUBG Mobile was banned in India last year along with other Chinese apps. Krafton announced the relaunch of PUBG Mobile India in November last year but it was delayed for months. Krafton finally announced it is launching the game as Battlegrounds Mobile India. There isn't an official launch date yet but reliable sources suggest it will take place on June 18 which is less than two weeks away.
