Here’s how much money Tencent lost after PUBG Mobile was banned in India
PUBG Mobile was banned in India late June last year by the Indian government and since then both Tencent and PUBG Corp have lost massive amounts of money.
PUBG Mobile was banned in India in the middle of 2020 following the tensions between India and China over the Galwan Valley incident. The Indian government cited security concerns over Chinese apps and has since banned more than 200 apps, including PUBG Mobile, under the Information Technology Act.
The ban was a huge blow for PUBG Mobile players and the gaming community at large but more than that it was a bigger blow for the PUBG Corporation and the Chinese entities in the game.
Initially there was no estimate about how much these losses were for PUBG Corp and the likes of Tencent, but according to reports, new developments have shed some light on the magnitude of the losses that followed the ban.

According to a report in Inside Sport, Tencent lost $34 billion in just two days following the ban. This was the second biggest dip Tencent has suffered after losing $66 billion when Donald Trump banned WeChat in the US.
Additionally, PUBG Corp removed Tencent as a subsidiary to be able to make a comeback in India and these mean additional losses for Tencent.
PUBG Mobile is currently trying to make a comeback in India as PUBG Mobile India and have been trying to get things in place. However, the company is yet to receive any form of a green signal from the Indian government. PUBG Mobile India is a registered Indian company now, however, the game cannot launch here unless MeitY gives it permission.
