Microsoft updates Xbox app on iPhones, iPad: Here’s what it can do
In case you own Xbox 360 and original Xbox games, you won’t be able to stream them as it only supports Xbox One and Xbox Series X and Series S titles.
Microsoft's latest version of Xbox app is making it easier to stream games to iPhones and iPads. The new app is available to download from the App Store and now includes a remote play feature for streaming. In case you are wondering, this is a separate feature than the company's xCloud service. The remote play feature will connect with your Xbox console for streaming and not xCloud. This also brings it at par with rival, Sony PlayStation's Remote Play feature available on Android and iOS.
In case you own Xbox 360 and original Xbox games, you won't be able to stream them as it only supports Xbox One and Xbox Series X and Series S titles. Besides, you won't need to connect the app with your Xbox using a Wi-Fi connection only. It can access the console over Wi-Fi, LTE or 5G connection, as reported by The Verge. This will also let you start your console remotely. Disconnecting the app will let the Xbox go back in the standby mode.
