The Xbox team has rolled out a big update to its Xbox (Beta) app on Windows 10. The latest update brings performance improvements and new features. The app will now also support mod.

The team didn't elaborate how and what performance improvements were made but said it had rebuilt the application from Electron to React Native. The transition is supposed to deliver a streamlined experience on the app. This, however, doesn't mean the design or interface has changed. Another important improvement is how the app manages memory usage. With the latest update, users will notice lesser memory usage on their PC.

The highlight of the update, however, is the mods support.

“We are excited to share some of the first steps we are taking to improve the mod experience. The Xbox (Beta) app now has an easy way for you to enable mods for select games where the game developer has chosen to enable them,” said the Xbox team in a post.

Right now, the list of eligible games for mods is very short and includes the likes of DiRT Rally 2.0, Farming Simulator 17, FTL: Faster Than Light, Into the Breach, and MudRunner.

The Xbox team also directs gamers interested in mods to a FAQ section before getting started.

To enable mods, open the Xbox app on your Windows device, go to games' description to check eligibility. If compatible, click on the More button, choose Enable mods, and follow on-screen instructions.
