Amazon on Wednesday launched the Fire TV Cube in India. This is the second-gen Amazon Fire TV Cube, and it’s the most powerful Fire TV yet. It comes with all the features you get on Fire TV along with support to control the TV, set top box, smart home devices and more.
The Amazon Fire TV Cube is priced at ₹12,999, and it can be purchased starting today on Amazon India, and select Croma and Reliance outlets. Amazon in a release said it is offering an HDMI cable along with the Fire TV Cube at no extra cost as an introductory offer. The second-gen Fire TV Cube looks quite like the original with a cube-like design, and buttons on top. The Alexa glow light is visible on the front of the device.
The Fire TV Cube is powered by a hexa-core processor. It comes with support for Dolby Vision and 4K Ultra HD content up to 60 frames per second. The streaming device is also equipped with Dolby Atmos. It has eight microphones and “advanced beamforming technology” that makes voice commands to Alexa very clear.
It can also be used to control a compatible TV, sound bar, A/V receiver, set top boxes, and other smart home devices. So through the Fire TV Cube you can ask Alexa to dim the lights, check the weather, listen to the news, and more. For this, the Fire TV Cube uses multi-infrared technology, cloud-based protocols and HDMI CEC, Amazon said in its release.
