This digital mission has led the government to launch several Android apps to expand the reach of information and knowledge about the farming practices, policies, and techniques to the grassroots level. These Android apps aim to provide information regarding all the latest updates in the agriculture segment, new farm equipment technologies, and methods that need to be practised for better productivity. Here we have listed 7 Android apps that can be downloaded from Google Play Store or the government's official website for ‘kisans' - mkisan.gov.in. Android apps for farmers
1. Kisan Suvidha
Developed by the Department of Agriculture & Cooperation, Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, the Kisan Suvidha app, as its name suggests, is to help farmers by providing relevant information ranging from weather, dealers, market price, and more.
2. Pusa Krishi
Pusa Krishi app aims to help farmers to find simple solutions for their farm field problems and get information related to weather, various types of crops and measures regarding the same.
3. MKisan Application
MKisan application compiles all the information and advisories shared by experts and government officials for farmers and other stakeholders. The best part of the app is that it enables Central and State government organizations in agriculture and allied sectors to share information via SMS to farmers in their native language.
4. Shetkari Masik App
Without the need of internet connectivity, the Shetkari Masik Android App provides a popular monthly magazine in the Agriculture sector, published by the Department of Agriculture, Maharashtra. It covers various topics such as new crop technologies, pest and disease management, organic farming, farming methods, irrigation methods, and more.
5. Farm-o-pedia App
This app has a niche audience from rural Gujarat. It is useful for farmers or even anyone involved in farming to know the details about the suitable crops according to their soil type, seasons and more.
6. Crop Insurance App
Not just farming practices, but there are apps to help farmers to calculate the Insurance Premium. It gives the information by calculating the insurance value for the notified crops based on the farm field area, coverage amount, and loan amount.
7. AgriMarket app
This mobile app helps farmers to get the market price of their crops within 50km. The AgriMarket app uses GPS to track the location of the farmer and hence provides the exact information about the nearest place to sell their crops in the market. Though, farmers can even use the app to get the market price value without GPS too.
