The thought of buying an Apple iPhone comes to a pause when it comes to finances. iPhones are a bit expensive hence making you wait for discounts or other offers to pop in. But now, even if there is no discount or other offer, you can get it at a cheaper rate. Wondering how? You can get an iPhone by exchanging your current smartphone under the Apple Trade In programme. As per the information provided by the company, Apple Trade In makes it easy to exchange any eligible smartphone for instant credit towards a new iPhone.

You will have to answer a few questions regarding brand, model and condition. And the company will provide a trade-in value to lower the price of a new iPhone. If your smartphone is not eligible for trade-in, the company will show you how to recycle it for free. Also, when the company will deliver your new iPhone, it will complete your trade-in right on your doorstep. Here is all you need to know about the Apple Trade In programme.

What is Apple Trade In?

Apple Trade In is an exchange programme that makes it easy to lower the cost of a new iPhone when you trade in an eligible smartphone at apple.com. It is important to know that this exchange programme is available in most of the Indian metropolitan areas. You are advised to enter your PIN code before you start the trade-in process to see if it's available in your location.

What devices are eligible for trade in with Apple Trade In?

Most of the iPhone models as well as many Android smartphones are eligible. You can provide your serial number or IMEI when you buy a new iPhone to confirm eligibility for your device.

Steps to trade in with Apple:

Step 1:

Get instant credit towards a new iPhone: Answer a few questions about your current smartphone when buying a new iPhone. After which you will get an estimated trade-in value and apply it as instant credit towards your purchase. Once you place your order, Apple's courier will confirm the date and time of your doorstep delivery and trade-in exchange.

Step 2:

Get your smartphone ready to exchange: Before the courier arrives, you will need to take a moment to get your smartphone ready so they can run a diagnostic test and verify that your smartphone works. Know how.

For iPhone users:

You need to back up your data, make sure your iPhone can access the internet from your location and have your Apple ID and Password ready so you can turn off Find My iPhone when the courier arrives.

For other smartphone users:

You need to back up your data, make sure your smartphone can access the internet from your location and download the verify app to your smartphone.

Step 3:

Get verification on your doorstep: On the day of delivery and with your permission, the courier will inspect your device and run a quick diagnostic test. Here's some of what they check for: Physical condition of the touchscreen, enclosure or back glass, and camera lenses, front and back camera functionality, battery wear and tear, storage capacity, performance speed, Wi-Fi and mobile functionality, etc.

Step 4:

Enjoy your new iPhone: Once your smartphone  is verified, your trade-in will be complete and you will get your new iPhone. If verification shows that the condition is not as described or something does not work, you can still get your new iPhone.

As soon as you pay the courier the difference between the trade-in credit you already received and the revised value of your device, the new iPhone is yours.
