The festive season has begun and Diwali is right around the corner. Diwali is the time to get back to our roots and follow the traditions that take us down the memory lane. It is also the time to take out time from our busy schedules for family and friends and enjoy various festivities with them. This emotionally charged environment can be made even better with some help from virtual assistants like Amazon Alexa that are already controlling various functions across our house. Some of the most common use cases of Alexa helping us manage our daily chores in a better way includes -- control media devices such as TVs and sound systems, controlling home appliances such as ACs, robotic vacuum cleaners, geysers and washing machines and of course, the fan favourite controlling the lighting around the house.

Ahead of the festival of lights, here are the top tricks that you can try with Amazon Alexa at your home:

One of the tricks that you can try with Amazon Alexa is starting the Diwali countdown ahead of the festivities. You can say, “Alexa, how many days are left for Diwali?” and start the countdown to Diwali. You can also plan activities at your house based on this countdown.

Alexa knows about Diwali

If you have kids at home, you can use Amazon Alexa to let your kids know the story behind celebrating Diwali. You can ask Alexa to recite the Ramayan Katha. All you need to do is say, “Alexa, play Ramayan” or you can say, “Alexa, why is Diwali celebrated?”.

Celebrate eco-friendly Diwali with Alexa

Festive season in India is usually accompanied by pollution. This is particularly a problem in the northern parts of the country. So, one of the ways you can celebrate Diwali with Alexa is by ditching firecrackers and asking Alexa to burst them instead. All you need to say is, “Alexa, burst fire crackers” or “Alexa, start Diwali Cracker Game”.

Diwali Pooja with Alexa

Diwali pooja is one of the most important aspects of celebrating Diwali apart from decorating the house and bursting fire-crackers. Instead of doing it all yourself, you can ask Amazon Alexa to start the Diwali pooja. All you need to do is say, “Alexa, when is Lakshmi puja Muhurat” or “Alexa Start Diwali Pooja.”

Make Diwali food with Alexa

Last but not the least, food. In India, festivals are synonymous with gorging on various delicacies. Diwali is no exception to this rule. With Alexa, you can also experiment with various dishes at home. All you need to do is say, “Alexa, give me Diwali recipes” and enjoy making treats yourself at home.
