EPFO, or Employees' Provident Fund Organisation has been taking several steps to simplify its various services and make the life of its members easier. Almost every service is now being offered online or on digital platforms. Recently, the EPFO has informed about the steps by which an EPFO member can transfer their Employee Provident Fund (EPF) digitally. An EPFO member can avail the service by simply logging in at the EPFO portal or EPFO member portal. But why is it required to transfer EPF? You can transfer your PF account in case you change your job.

So, after changing your job, an EPFO subscriber can transfer their EPF account online by logging in at the EPFO member portal — unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in/memberinterface/ and by following the 6 simple steps mentioned below. It can be noted that EPFO is one of the world's largest Social Security Organisations in terms of clientele and the volume of financial transactions undertaken. At present it maintains 24.77 crore accounts (Annual Report 2019-20) pertaining to its members, according to the information provided by EPFO official website. The EPFO is under the administrative control of the Ministry of Labour and Employment, Government of India.

How to transfer EPF online: Step-by-step guide

Step 1:

Visit the 'Unified Member Portal' by clicking on the link- https://unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in/memberinterface/ and login with UAN and password.

Step 2:

Go to 'online services' and click on 'One Member One EPF Account (Transfer Request)'.

Step 3:

Verify 'Personal Information' and 'PF Account' for present employment.

Step 4:

Click 'Get Details', PF account details of previous employment would appear.

Step 5:

Choose either 'Previous Employer' or 'Present Employer' for attesting form.

Step 6:

Click on 'Get OTP' to receive OTP on a UAN registered mobile number. Enter 'OTP' and click 'Submit'.
