Google tips: Remove personal information from Google search this way

Google now allows users to remove personal information from Google search by dropping a request. Here’s the step-by-step guide to do the same.

Google, during its annual developer conference, has announced the expansion of the sphere of personal information that can be removed from Google search results. This will allow users to remove sensitive personal information such as contact details and login credentials with ease. Previously, this feature was limited to just bank details, however, the new updated policy lets users have more control over their data that can be accessed by a basic Google search. You can remove your data by simply submitting a request to delete your addresses (both physical and email) and phone numbers from potential search results. 7. "Irrelevant pornography" (that is, explicit material somehow tied to your name)

Additionally, if you're afraid of getting doxxed, Google may even remove your professional contact info from the search engine. The tech giant has even introduced a new tool at Google I/O 2022 that will make the whole process easier to remove phone numbers, home addresses, or email addresses from Google search. This will also make tracking the request status easier.

Step 1:

Visit this Google page to make a request for the removal of personal info.

Step 2:

Next, answer the questions that Google asks to understand the kind of content you want to remove.
 

Step 3:

Once you submit the answers, Google will send you an automatic mail for confirmation.

Step 4:

After that, Google will evaluate the request based on the requirements provided in the form. If any information is found missing, such as URLs, the tech giant will notify you to correct the information.
 

Step 5:

If the URLs fulfill Google’s guidelines, “Either the URLs will be removed for all queries or the URLs will be removed only from search results in which the query includes the complainant’s name, or other provided identifiers, such as aliases.” If it doesn’t, your request will be denied but, you can re-submit your request.
