The party is obviously wild and everyone gets soaked in water and colour. And that can be a problem for your smartphone. In fact, it becomes necessary to keep your electronic devices like mobile phones, smartwatches and more safe from getting wet. So, if your phone gets water on it, the only way to save it is by quick action on your part. Here are some quick tips and tricks to recover your phone quickly. Remember, no company covers water damage under warranty even if the device is water-proof. Check out these basic dos and don'ts that you can follow if your phone accidentally gets water on it while you are playing Holi.
What not to do if your phone gets wet
1. Don't plug in or charge your phone when it's wet, not even to check if it is working. This may cause a short circuit and also has electric shock risk.
2. Don't use a hair dryer to dry your phone as this can damage your phone's internals. For instance, the hot air falling directly on the display can damage the internal wiring, and can even melt it and end up completely damaging the phone.
3. Never shake your phone to take out water as it may lead to the water inside traveling to other parts and damage them.
How to save phone if it gets water on it
Switch off the smartphone quickly and remove the cover or screen protector to remove all the excess water that may be around the device.
Wipe the phone with a clean and dry cloth properly. Make sure to wipe all the parts of the phone by removing the cover and tempered glass. Doing this may help save your smartphone.
Remove the SIM card slot after completely wiping and drying the phone. This will protect the SIM or memory card from getting damaged.
Put the phone into a vacuum bag as it can help draw water out of the device. Just take a plastic ziplock bag, put a straw inside it along with the phone, seal it and suck all the air using the straw. Now, take it out and seal the bag as fast as possible. You could add silica gel bags in the bag to help the process.
