PPF is a long-term investment scheme backed by the government. You can make a minimum deposit of Rs. 500 and a maximum of Rs. 1,50,000 in a financial year, as per the information provided by the National Savings Institute (NSI). It can be known that a PPF account matures on the completion of 15 financial years. PPF is one of the most popular choices of investment among the earning classes in India mainly because the interest earned in the account is free from Income Tax under section 10 of IT Act. However, even as deposits are important, it is critical for you to also know how to check PPF account balance online. So, you are required to make deposits for as long as 15 years and it is very important to keep a track of your PPF account balance. By keeping a track of your PPF account you will also be able to know the amount of interest your investment will earn every year. It can be noted that the interest rate on PPF changes every quarter, and hence the interest earned on the deposit also changes. This is not all, you will also be able to know the amount you will be receiving upon the maturity of your PPF account by keeping a track of the balance in your account. However, there are instances where the PPF account holder wants to withdraw some amount, then it can be known that withdrawal is permissible every year from 7th financial year, according to NSI. If you want to check your PPF account balance, then you can do so online 24x7 by following a few simple steps. However, it needs to be noted that the online facility to check the PPF account balance can be accessed by only those who have opened their PPF accounts at a bank. They also need to link their previous existing savings account with the bank to the PPF account. Check the step-by-step guide below. ## How to check PPF balance online- Steps explained Step 1: You need to ensure that you have internet/mobile banking activated for your bank account. Step 2: Login to the internet banking services provided by your bank using your credentials. For example, if you have a PPF account with SBI, you need to login to SBI's internet banking. Step 3: Once done, you will easily be able to check your PPF account balance.
