The Aadhaar card is arguably the most important document for identification in several government and non-government processes. To make it absolutely safe, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has digitized various processes linked to the document. Hence, it becomes necessary to carry your Aadhaar card while getting some work done. However, losing it might land you in trouble. If you lost your Aadhaar card or if it got stolen, then you need to start worrying. In fact, you need to ensure you get it back as soon as possible. The good news is that you can download it from the UIDAI official portal or retrieve it by following these simple steps.

Users can download the Aadhaar card and store it digitally and thereby also eliminate the need for physical verification. UIDAI has a direct link through which users can download the Aadhaar card on their gadgets. The Aadhaar card can be downloaded by using the direct Aadhaar link: eaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/.

Step 1:

Visit the official portal of UIDAI https://uidai.gov.in/

Step 2:

On the homepage, click on the Download Aadhaar option under 'Get Aadhaar'.

Step 3:

Fill in your Aadhaar number in the space provided and the security code shown on the page.

Step 4:

Click on 'Send OTP'. Once done, an OTP will be sent to your registered mobile number.

Step 5:

Submit the OTP and click on 'Verify and download.'

Step 6:

Once your details are verified, the PDF of the Aadhaar card will be available on the page.

Step 7:

Download the PDF on your device. It will be password protected, hence, you’ll have to click on the downloaded file and enter the password. It will be of eight characters combining the first four letters of your name (as in the Aadhaar) in capital letters and year of birth in YYYY format.

Step 8:

Once done, it will be unlocked and you can either retain the e-Aadhaar card in the Downloads folder or save it in your email for future use.
