WhatsApp is introducing reaction preview within chats list for some beta testers. Here is all you need to know.

WhatsApp has been continuously enhancing its chats feature. Recently, the messaging application has added message reactions. And now, as per the latest information, WhatsApp is releasing another new feature that you can use on receiving a reaction. However, this new feature is available for some beta testers only at the moment but will be rolled out to all if all goes well and no glitches are found by the testers. Informing about the same, WABetaInfo tweeted, “WhatsApp beta for Android 2.22.16.6: what's new? WhatsApp is introducing a reaction preview within the chats list and it is already available to some beta testers.”

Sharing a screenshot, WABetaInfo informed that a text preview shows up when you receive a reaction in a specific chat. “As you can see in this screenshot, a text preview shows up when you receive a reaction in a specific chat. In this case, we reacted to a message by using the green heart emoji and a text preview showed up in the chats list. This works for both chats and groups and there is no way to disable it: it is still enabled even if you disabled “reaction notifications” within WhatsApp Settings > Notifications,”it said.

Meanwhile, WhatsApp users who have not yet tried the message reaction feature can know that they can react to messages in their individual and group chats with an emoji. Users can view all reactions to a message by tapping the reactions emoji below the message.

It can be noted that only one reaction per message can be added and reactions to disappearing messages will disappear when the message disappears. Also it is not possible to hide reactions or reaction counts.

Here is how to add a reaction to a message

1. Long press on a message.

2. Tap to select one of the displayed emoji or tap to select any emoji from your keyboard.

How to change your reaction

1. Long press on a message you reacted to.

2. Tap a different emoji or tap to select a different emoji from your keyboard.

How to remove a reaction

Step 1:

Long press on the message you reacted to or tap the reaction.

Step 2:

Tap the emoji you reacted with to remove it.
