Google has rolled out an update to its video conferencing platform Google Meet that will give users access to quick settings that will enable them to access various effects such as background images and styles among others. This new quick access setting will be available to users both before and after joining a call via Google Meet Green Room feature.

Google in a blog post explained that in Google Meet Green Room, users will be able to try out various effects and see how you look and whether you feel right before joining a call with others. All these new settings will be available via a new “Apply Visual Effects” button that will appear in the three-dot overflow menu next to Google Meet app's end call button.

When users press on the ‘Apply Visual Effects' after they have joined a meeting, Google opens a side panel within Google Meet's platform with a preview feed that shows the two blur intensities. Under this option is a grid of various static, custom, and animated backgrounds.

On the contrary, if a user is yet to join a call, he will get the ability to preview these features in a self-check green room, which has ‘Audio and video', ‘Effects' and ‘Preview' tabs. Here's a step-by-step guide of how you will be able to preview how you will appear in on a Google Meet app meeting and how you can can check your audio too:

Before you join a Google Meet video call, use the green room self-check to preview how you'll appear in the meeting and check how your audio sounds to others.

Step 1: Join a meeting in Google Meet.

Step 2: In the green room, select how you want to sound and look in the meeting.

Step 3: At the bottom left, before you join, click Check your audio and video.

Step 4: In the window that appears:

-- To preview the sound from your speaker, click Test speaker.

-- To test your device settings, choose your settings > Next.

-- To preview how you would look in a meeting, click Start.

Step 5: At the top right, click Close.

Step 6: Join the meeting or change your settings.

Google has started rolling out this feature to all Google Workspace customers, as well as G Suite Basic and Business customers and it will be available to the users in the coming days.
