A poor internet connection often causes frustrating online experiences. Since, the work from home culture really started during the pandemic, streaming services and video chats have become an essential part of modern life. There is no place or time left for the irritating buffering problem. However, these services need a better bandwidth and even after spending a lot on choosing a better service provider, the poor speed of the internet does not always get fixed. So here we have listed a few tips and tricks that show you how to speed up your internet speed for free at home. Though these methods aren't 100% guaranteed, they're certainly worth a try. Check out these 5 easiest trick to get faster internet

Adjust your Wifi channel

One of the most common causes of poor Wi-Fi speeds is your router on a “busy” channel if you live in an apartment building or built-up neighborhood. Using the same Wi-Fi channel as one or more of your neighbors, slows down the Wi-Fi speed. Hence, check what channel your router is on with a smartphone or computer. Once you've discovered your current channel, change your channel to the least populated one.

Set the best frequency

Most routers offer two Wi-Fi frequencies, or bands i.e, 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz. Though the 2.4GHZ is slower, it has a strong signal, and hence can be connected from farther distances as well. The 5GH frequency is weaker but offers far higher speeds. Also, ensure that your router is configured to offer 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz as separate network connections.

Opt for a wired connection

Using a wired connection is also the easiest way to get the most from your broadband speed. Though this option isn't practical for everything, if you have devices close to your router, you can definitely consider plugging them into a spare network port.

If your router isn't close to any of your devices, you can even consider using a longer Ethernet cable and running it behind your furniture or under carpets.

Place your Router to get the best signal

Ensure that your Router is placed in a proper location so that it can get the best signal. Don't keep your Router too close to anything that could cause electronic interference, such as a TV, games console, kitchen appliance, Bluetooth speaker, or baby monitor. It's also a good idea to keep it at least 5 feet off the ground, and in a central part of your home or you can connect it to a different phone line in your home.

Ask your internet service provider for a hardware or broadband upgrade

Many internet service providers offer combined modem and router in the form of a gateway device. These are rarely a match for a dedicated modem and router. Hence, one must ensure that they're getting the best cable modems and best Wi-Fi routers. You can even ask your internet service provider for a speed upgrade.
