Apple Magic Keyboard with Touch ID can now be bought solo without the M1 iMac
Apple has started selling the wireless Magic Keyboard as a standalone device and you can buy it right now.
Apple's Magic Keyboard with Touch ID can now be purchased as a standalone device and you can buy it in India right now. So far, this wireless keyboard was exclusive to the M1 iMac that Apple had launched in April this year. Apple is now selling the Magic Keyboard with Touch ID and Numeric keypad for Macs that are powered by the Apple silicon. And that's not all that's new in the Apple Store. The company has also updated its Intel-powered Mac Pro with three new graphics card options - the Radeon Pro W6800X MPX Module, the Radeon Pro W6800X Duo MPX Module, and the Radeon Pro W6900X MPX Module.
The Apple Magic Keyboard with Touch ID is priced at ₹14,500 ($149 in the US). This price tag is a good bit higher than the ₹9,500 ($99) you pay for the regular Magic Keyboard for the Mac. The perk with this new offering is the Touch ID sensor that allows for biometric authentication support. This helps protect your personal data online, much like the Touch ID power button on the MacBooks.
The Magic Keyboard with Touch ID looks quite identical to the regular Magic Keyboard, but it comes with the fingerprint sensor module. Touch ID support on the new keyboard is, however, limited to Mac devices that have Apple silicon and are running on at least macOS 11.4. So this means that you will not be able to use the biometric authentication feature on older Macs. The new Magic Keyboard with Touch ID is slightly wider than the older Magic Keyboard and it sports the same aluminium body as the older one and promises about one month of battery life on a single charge. The Magic Keyboard with Touch ID also comes with Bluetooth connectivity and retains a Lightning port for charging. The keyboard comes bundled with a Lightning to USB-C cable for charging.

Besides the Magic Keyboard with Touch ID, you can also buy the one that comes with the Numeric Keypad. This one is priced at ₹17,500 ($179 in the US). You can also buy the Magic Trackpad and Magic Mouse as well to match all your new equipment. The Magic Trackpad is available for ₹12,500 ($129 in the US) and the Magic Mouse is available for ₹7,500 ($79 in the US). However, if you were hoping to buy the Magic Keyboard in a specific colour, you might have to wait a bit. Apple is selling only the silver/aluminium colour option on the Magic Keyboard, all the other colour options are available but exclusively with the 2021 iMac.
Apple has updated the Mac Pro with three graphic cards options for you to pick from - the Radeon Pro W6800X MPX Module, the Radeon Pro W6800X Duo MPX Module, and the Radeon Pro W6900X MPX Module. Apple claims that the new graphic modules offer up to 23% faster performance in DaVinci Resolve and are 84% faster in Octane X.
The Radeon Pro W6800X MPX Module with 32GB of GDDR6 memory can be added to the Mac Pro for ₹2,40,000 ($2,400 in the US). The Radeon Pro W6800X Duo MPX Module with 64GB of GDDR6 memory is priced at ₹4,60,000 ($4,600) and the Radeon Pro W6900X MPX Module with 32GB of GDDR6 memory is priced at ₹5,60,000 ($5,600). You can pick the new modules on the Apple Store when you are configuring the Mac Pro.
