A couple of months ago, Google released a software that owners of all old Windows laptops and MacBooks loved to see – Chrome OS Flex. The idea behind Chrome OS Flex is to let your ancient Windows laptop and desktop, as well as old Apple MacBooks breathe a new lease of life with Chrome OS. Chrome OS Flex allows users to simply install Chrome OS instead of Windows and macOS to let old system work like new machines. It was available in beta to test out and now is available for everyone to try out.

Chrome OS Flex is mainly designed for older PCs running on older versions of Windows and macOS. Google says it was designed mainly for business to support their old laptops and PCs that lack the modern hardware to run the newest version of Windows or macOS. Google has tested and certified 400 old devices to run Chrome OS Flex and will support PCs from brands such as Acer, Asus, Dell, HP, Lenovo, LG, Toshiba, and many more OEMs.

Google Chrome OS Flex is now out bug-free

There are many advantages with Chrome OS Flex, the biggest one of which is that it is free to download and use, just like Google Chrome. Hence, anyone can download the files from Google's website and store it on their thumb drive. Installing it is an easy process as all one needs to do is plug in the device and start the installation.

Another advantage for businesses is that Chrome OS is a closed OS and hence, it is not as vulnerable to deadly malware attacks as Windows. Hence, IT departments will have to spend less on maintenance with these Chrome OS Flex devices. Moreover, Google keeps releasing updates from Chrome OS frequently. And, these devices work very well with Android phones.

Chrome OS Flex will also be beneficial to those Windows PC users who couldn't make the upgrade to Windows 11 due to hardware limitations. Anyone can try Chrome OS Flex even if their device isn't supported. However, users could face some bugs and issues.

Chrome OS in itself is a decent platform if you work involves doing basic computing such working on documents and spreadsheets, as well as browsing the internet. However, old Windows apps may not work with Chrome OS Flex owing to lack of compatibility.
