Samsung teases laptop screen tech that will be showcased in upcoming “First Look 2021” event

In the video, Samsung claims that the OLED screens on its upcoming laptops will deliver 120% DCI P3 colour gamut coverage, which is way more than the 74% DCI P3 coverage found in a conventional laptop screens.

If you have been following Samsung, you might be aware that the company is hosting the “First Look 2021” event tomorrow (January 6). In the teaser, the company talked about introducing new screen technology for the masses through different devices. However, now it has showcased one of the technologies that will be coming to its future laptops.

The firm has teased the new OLED screen laptop lineup via a video on YouTube. The video is titled “Samsung OLED for laptops: Superior image quality.”

In the video, Samsung claims that the OLED screens on its upcoming laptops will deliver 120% DCI P3 colour gamut coverage, which is way more than the 74% DCI P3 coverage found in a conventional screen. Some other advantages mentioned are True black colours with 0.0005nits brightness along with a high contrast ratio of 1000000: 1.

In addition, the OLED screens in the laptops will have better highlights and details in dark scenes. 

This announcement comes almost a month after the company launched its Samsung Galaxy Book Flex 2 5G, Galaxy Book Ion 2 and Galaxy Notebook Plus 2. None of these come with OLED screens.

But laptops are not the only devices that getting better screens this year. As per the teaser image, the company has shown different monitors TVs, tablets, and even smartphones. While earlier this year during CES 2020 the company showcased QLED 8K TV with 88-inch and 150-inch Micro LED models. In 2021, it's expected to show new QLED 8K TVs in addition to some quantum Mini LED TVs in, 55, 65 76 and 85-inch screen sizes.
