350,000 Xiaomi Mi 11 smartphones bought in 5 mins of it going on sale

Within five minutes of the Xiaomi Mi 11 smartphone going on sale in China, 350,000 units were bought.

Xiaomi had unveiled the Xiaomi Mi 11 as the first flagship of 2021 on December 28. The rather interesting device went on sale on January 1 in China at 0:00 local time and according to the company's official data, 350,000 units were sold in just five minutes. That's more than 1.5 billion Yuan ($229,000 approx) spent in just five minutes.

The number of devices sold was announced by the vice president of Xiaomi Group and president of the mobile phone department - Zeng Xuezhong in a post on Chinese social media. This staggering number is not surprising given that the Xiaomi Mi 11 is the company's first flagship of the new year and also that it is the first smartphone to come with the new Snapdragon 888 SoC.

The Xiaomi Mi 11 comes with a delicate frosted glass finish and a brand new camera module design, and weighs only 196 grams. There is also a leather model and the smartphone is available in white, black, blue and a smoky purple which is the plain leather version.

The smartphone sports a 6.81-inch display that comes with a 2K resolution. The screen is a four-sided curved AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a 480Hz touch sampling rate and HDR10+ support. According to a report in Gizchina, the Xiaomi Mi 11 got the A+ maximum score from the DisplayMate review.

The Xiaomi Mi 11 is the first smartphone to come with the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC and brings a 5nm process and an Octa-Core architecture featuring ARM's Cortex-X1 core + 3x Cortex A78 cores + 4 Cortex-A55 cores. Compared to the predecessors, the overall CPU performance of the Xiaomi Mi 11 is 25% higher and the power consumption is reduced by 25%. GPU performance is also improved by 35%. According to Qualcomm, this Snapdragon 888 has the best ever Adreno GPU.

The Xiaomi Mi 11 has a 108MP main camera, a 13MP ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 5MP telephoto macro lens on the back. For selfies, there is a 20MP camera with wide-angle and group photo mode support housed in a punch-hole.

There is a 4,600mAh battery under the hood with support for 55W wired fast charging. The Mi 11 also supports 50W wireless fast charging and 10W reverse charging. The smartphone also has X-axis linear motors and Harman Kardon tuning dual speakers and supports a multi-function NFC and infrared remote control.
