Apple Spring Loaded 2021: New purple colour for iPhone 12 and 12 mini launched, price remains unchanged

Apple on Tuesday revealed a new purple colour variant for its iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 mini smartphones.

Apple on Tuesday revealed a new purple colour variant for its iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 mini smartphones. The new colour adds to Apple's five existing colours for the iPhone 12 and 12 mini, with the same processor and other features on box the device. 

The new iPhone 12 was unveiled by Apple CEO Tim Cook  during the Apple Spring Loaded 2021 launch event. Both models with the new colour will feature the same Apple designed A14 Bionic chipset with 5G, the dual-camera system, the OLED Super Retina XDR display , and the Ceramic Shield front cover.

Apple says that the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 mini in purple will go up for pre-order in the US starting April 23, and start shipping at the end of the month. The company has also launched a series of new accessories including a MagSafe Leather Case, a Leather Sleeve in Deep Violet, a Silicone Case in Capri Blue, Pistachio, Cantaloupe, or Amethyst, or a Leather Wallet in Arizona.

iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 mini in purple will ship with iOS 14.5, which makes sense since the update to the latest version of iOS is expected to release before the end of the month. The iOS 14.5 update will include the ability to unlock an iPhone with Apple Watch if a user is wearing a face mask, along with an enhanced Apple Podcasts app, and a Search tab, as well as new emoji.

Meanwhile, Siri will include more diverse voice options in English and drop the default voice. This latest software update builds on the release of iOS 14, which delivered a major update to the Home Screen with beautifully redesigned widgets and the App Library, new ways to use apps with App Clips, and powerful updates to Messages.

Apple says that the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 mini are currently available in blue, green, black, white, and (PRODUCT)RED,9 and will be available in the new purple in 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB models starting at INR 79900 and 69900.
