Pixel 4a launches today, here are top 5 things to know about new Google phone

Google Pixel 3A (Google)

Google's much-anticipated smartphone of the year, the Pixel 4a, is finally about to launch as per reports. The company has not yet gone completely public with the launch date or teasers but looking at the hype, it seems like we may see the device within next few hours. There's no doubt that a lot has been leaked about the Pixel 4a over the past few months. We have seen the leaked images and specs as well. So, here's a compilation of what all is there on the internet about this device, in case you missed out on something.

Design 

Google Pixel 4a is expected to feature a punch-hole camera on its 5.8-inch display. That can be called as an upgrade since the smartphone came with a notch until last year. From the leaked images, it doesn't seem like there will be a dual tone back like what we have seen in OG Pixel, Pixel 2 and Pixel 3 smartphones. The device may, however, get Pixel 4 looks.

Display

As mentioned above, the smartphone is expected to sport a 5.8-inch OLED screen with HDR support, which is mid-way the screen size of Pixel 3a and 3a XL. We are expecting it to sport FHD+ resolution like last time along with some usual set of features such as Always-On display, 24-bit depth, 16 million colours and True Black level – all of which were in Pixel 3a and 3a XL as well.

Processor

As per the leaks, the handset could sport Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G processor, which also comes with 5G connectivity support. This may bring a good bump in the performance area from last year's Snapdragon 670 SoC. 6GB RAM and 128GB inbuilt storage is also expected.

Cameras

On the camera front, the smartphone is said to include a 12.2-megapixel sensor with f/1.7 aperture and Dual Pixel Phase Detection autofocus with OIS. It is not for sure if the Pixel 4a will get any of the Pixel 4 camera features. At the front, leaks suggest it to feature an 8-megapixel sensor with f/2 front camera.

Extra features and price

Besides a 3140mAh battery, the Pixel 4a is expected to include Titan M Security Module as well. Tipster Ishan Agarwal adds that it will be coming to US, UK, Ireland, Germany, Australia, Japan and Canada initially. The US price is tipped to be around $349, which means around ₹26,183. However, the cost could be more if only it gets launched in India.
