Here’s what to expect from Redmi K40 Gaming Edition

Redmi K40 Gaming Edition will be the company’s first phone for gaming enthusiasts. The handset is likely to compete with Asus ROG Phone 5.

The long-awaited Redmi gaming phone is coming tomorrow. The smartphone is said to be part of the current K40 lineup. Dubbed as Redmi K40 Gaming Edition, the handset is likely to come with a wide range of gaming-focused features. Ahead of the official launch, Redmi has confirmed some more details of the phone.

According to Redmi (on Weibo via GSMArena), the Redmi K40 Gaming Edition will run on a 5,065mAh battery with 67W wired fast charging support. The company also revealed that the upcoming phone would come with JBL Audio and dual speakers. It will also have Hi-Res Audio and Dolby Atmos support.

Earlier teasers have shown Redmi K40 Gaming Edition will come with retractable side buttons for better gaming. The design is said to be identical to what we have seen on phones such as ROG Phone 5 and ROG Phone 3. The teaser further showed the phone has a triple-rear camera setup with LEDs at the top and bottom. Rumours claim the phone has a 64-megapixel Sony IMX686 camera. It will house a 6,000mAh battery.

Redmi K40 Gaming Edition is said to come with MediaTek's top-end Dimensity 1200 processor. The chipset is already available on handsets such as Realme GT Neo. The processor comes with an octa-core CPU with an ultra-core Arm Cortex-A78 clocked up to 3GHz, three Arm Cortex-A78 super cores and four Arm Cortex-A55 efficiency cores. It also features an Arm Mali-G77 MC9 GPU.

The processor brings support for 2520x1080 pixels resolution and a maximum refresh rate of 168Hz. It has up to 16GB of RAM and a peak download speed of 4.7Gbps, and a peak upload speed of 2.5Gbps.
