Honor Play 5 with Dimensity 800U SoC launched: Check price, specs

Honor Play 5 goes official (Honor )

Honor has launched a new mid-range smartphone called Play 5. The handset will be available in China starting May 26. There is no word on when the phone will roll out in other markets. As far as pricing goes, the base model of the Play 5 costs CNY 2,099 ( ₹23,800 approximately). The top-end model is priced at CNY 2,299 ( ₹26,400 approx). The phone comes in purple, black, and gradient colour options.

Honor Play 5 measures 161.6 x 74.8 x 7.46mm and weighs around 179 grams. It comes with a 6.53-inch OLED display with full HD+ resolution.

The smartphone runs on a MediaTek Dimensity 800U processor. It comes with 8GB of RAM and 128GB and 256GB storage options. It packs a 3,800mAh battery coupled with 66W fast charging support. On the software front, it runs Android 10-based Magic UI 4.0. The phone does not ship with Google Play Services.

On the back, Honor Play 5 has a quad-camera setup. It consists of a 64-megapixel primary sensor, 8-megapixel ultrawide sensor, 2-megapixel macro sensor, and 2-megapixel depth sensor. On the front, it houses a 16-megapixel camera housed in a waterdrop notch.

The handset also comes with an in-screen fingerprint sensor. Connectivity options include 5G support, NFC, OTG, Bluetooth 5.1, USB Type-C, and GPS.

Separately, Honor is working on a premium Honor 50 Pro+ handset. The phone is said to be the first to ship Qualcomm's Snapdragon 775G processor. According to reports, the phone will come with a 2K display and a 120Hz refresh rate. There will be a dual selfie camera setup with a combination of 32-megapixel and 8-megapixel front-facing sensors. On the back, it will offer a setup of a 50-megapixel primary sensor, a 13-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens, an 8-megapixel sensor, and one ToF sensor.

Other rumoured features of the Honor 50 Pro+ are UFS 3.1 storage, LPDDR5 RAM, and a 4,400mAh battery with 66W fast charging support.
