Some apps may have been draining your battery or it might simply have gone old or bad. However, there are ways to get the maximum juice out of your phone battery. According to Apple, “your iPhone might get slightly warmer while it charges. To extend the lifespan of your battery, if the battery gets too warm, the software might limit charging above 80 per cent.” Similarly, Samsung says one “should limit the maximum charge to 85 per cent to protect the lifespan of your phone's battery.” Also read click here. Although Apple gives iPhone users an option to check the battery health in Settings, there is no in-built option in some Android smartphones to do the same. However, we’ve got your back and reveal some hidden truths to you here. There are various ways in which you can check your battery health, keep a track of charging cycles, and optimize it too. ### Here’s how you can check and track battery health on your Android smartphone AccuBattery app – AccuBattery is one of the best and most reliable battery tracking apps in the market. The app not only shows you the battery health of your smartphone, it also shows you the battery temperature while using the device as well as while charging. The app also shows charging speed, charge time estimate, charge status and charge current. Samsung smartphone – If you own a Samsung smartphone, then you can check your battery health directly in Settings. Open Settings, go to Battery and device care and open Diagnostics. Here you will see your battery health. If your phone is draining battery or lagging, tap the Optimize button present on the device care page. OnePlus smartphone – OnePlus also lets its users check the battery status via the OnePlus Care app. Install the app and tap on download. Tap on Custom Diagnosis then Battery and tap Start. This will show you a list of details such as battery health, charging status and more. ## You can improve the battery life of your Android smartphone by following these simple steps: Step 1: ALWAYS charge your smartphone up to 80-85 percent as that is the optimal battery percentage. It ensures that your phone stays adequately charged while preventing overcharging. Step 2: NEVER keep your smartphone in hot places or in direct contact with sunlight. Step 3: Use the in-built battery settings to keep a track of apps draining your battery and close them. Step 4: Keep your smartphone’s refresh rate at 60Hz to save battery, turn off the always-on display and turn on auto-brightness. Step 5: Turn off GPS when not in use and set your screen-off time to 30 seconds to prevent excessive battery drain. Step 6: If you have a high-end smartphone which uses an OLED display, turn on dark mode. ### What if the battery health is below 80 percent? Apple says that your smartphone functions optimally up to 80 percent battery health. If the health goes below 80 percent, your smartphone shows you signs of decreasing battery life such as slow charging, frequent charging, drastic drop in battery life. So, if your battery health goes below 80 percent, it might be the time to have it replaced. Several manufacturers allow battery replacement at their authorized service centers. Recently, Xiaomi announced a battery replacement program in India where Xiaomi and Redmi users can get their smartphone batteries replaced by paying just Rs. 499.
