iPhone 15 Pro Max will master zoom; may still lose out to Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra

iPhone 15 Pro Max will come with a massive zooming capabilities, suggests Kuo. Here is all you need to know.

iPhone 15 Pro Max will take another big leap when it comes to the camera performance. Apple is rumoured to go for a high-resolution 48MP main camera sensor on the iPhone 14 Pro this year, which promises gains in details and low light performance. However, the rest of the two cameras will be carried over from the iPhone 13 Pro Max and for professional photographers, that would be disappointing. Especially with regards to zoom, the iPhone 14 Pro is likely to lose out big time to the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra's 10X optical zoom.

iPhone 15 Pro Max will, however, solve this problem, suggest noted analyst and Apple leak specialist Ming-Chi Kuo. In his latest note, he says that Apple will focus on the zoom camera for the iPhone 15 Pro generation. After sticking to standard zoom camera system, Apple will finally dot a periscopic lens arrangement for the iPhone 15 Pro Max. But this periscopic zoom camera will only come on the iPhone 15 Pro Max; the standard iPhone 15 Pro will continue to have the regula zoom camera system.

iPhone 15 Pro Max to get special zoom camera

Kuo says that the periscopic lens arrangement will allow the phone to optically zoom up to 6X, which is bit higher than the regular 5X periscope zoom lenses. Kuo says that the camera will have a ⅓-inch sensor and will be accompanied by a 12MP resolution with f/2.8 aperture lens. The camera sensor will also get sensor-shift stabilization and up to 6x optical zoom.

He goes on to say that Apple will be able to offer the 6X zoom camera on the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max as standard. However, none of the standard iPhone 15 and iPhone 16 models will get the zoom camera.

Apple will be late to the periscopic zoom camera party but you can be rest assured that Apple will do it one of the best ways. Currently, Samsung leads the zoom camera race with its 10X optical zoom and up to 100X digital zoom. The iPhone 13 Pro Max will come with a 3X optical zoom camera having a 12MP sensor.
