The upcoming iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max are expected to get this new feature that iPhones never had. This is possible not just because of the iOS 16 software, but also because of the upgrade to the hardware on the iPhone 14 Pro models too.

4/6 According to Prosser's FrontPageTech video, the iPhone 14 will look like an iPhone 12 crossed with an iPhone 4 in that it'll stick with flat edges. However, notably, those edges could include a mute button and a group of rounded buttons for volume central, harking back to the iPhone 4. (Front Page Tech)

5/6 The iPhone 14 series is still expected to have glass on the back, like the couple of previous generations of iPhones dating back to the iPhone 8. However, this new notch design is sure to excite consumers. It will be the first time since the launch of iPhone X back in 2018, that Apple has carried out a major revamp of their iPhones, instead of sticking to their tried and tested design. (FrontPageTech)

Everyone has been eyeing the new iOS 16 version for clues to the presence of one of the most awaited features - the always-on-display (AOD). Now, it seems this feature is most likely coming to the upcoming iPhone 14 Pro models. Ahead of the WWDC 2022 event, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman had assured fans that the always-on-display is very much expected on iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max models.

The AOD feature is already available on Apple Watch Series 5 and later models. Apple Watch users must be aware of this feature which lets them view glanceable information like time even when the watch is locked. Similarly, the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max are now expected to bring this feature which has been available on many Android smartphones for for quite some time now.

iOS 16 update showed an always-on display feature

Now, 9to5Mac has revealed that it has found several references to AOD support in the iOS 16 version, which confirms all the iPhone 14 Pro rumours. And what's more, it has already been tested in the iPhone launched last year. “There's even an internal mode that Apple uses to test always-on mode in iPhone 13,” the report mentioned.

mobile to buy?

For several Android smartphones, the always-on display feature works almost the same way- a black screen on the display with a clock or sometimes widgets showing clearly. The new lock screen in iOS 16 showed that the AOD feature is expected to follow the same approach. However, the iPhone 14 series may also bring something new to the upcoming pattern of to the AOD.

9to5Mac reports that in the new system, wallpapers too are ready for AOD feature. It revealed, “Now, in addition to the regular vectors, the native wallpapers (such as the default one and the recently added clown fish wallpaper) also have a new state labeled “Sleep,” which has very dark and faded elements.” This kind of Wallpaper style is quite similar to the Apple Watch faces with always-on enabled.

The report also says that the iPhone 14 Pro models are also expected to get a new variable refresh rate display, which can go down to 1Hz per second. This display requires much less power than the current displays on the iPhones. In effect, it will mean that the AOD will function well without draining the battery quickly.
