The iPhone 14 launch dates have been under doubt ever since the key Apple suppliers in China began facing reopening delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic lockdowns. Even as many sources believe that the suppliers might be able to make up for lost time by working round the clock, it is expected that the manufacturing timelines might suffer a delay. Whether it trickles over to the product launches later in the year is yet to be seen. Amid all the speculation, new iPhone 14 leaks have come to surface which has begun the speculation that due to these delays, the Apple smartphone might not even have a single launch date. The iPhone 14 launch date debacle

Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo and Ross Young, CEO of Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC) as well as an Apple insider, have recently had a Twitter conversation that began speculations around the fate of iPhone 14 launch. Ming-Chi Kuo posted on Twitter regarding the situation around Apple's suppliers in China who are struggling to reopen amid the COVID-19 restrictions, resulting in a delay for Apple's iPhone 14 development timeline. He tweeted, “My latest channel checks suggest that Apple has not changed the shipping plan for the iPhone 14 models since the Shanghai lockdown. iPhone 14 Max is running behind, but it's still under control currently, and suppliers can work overtime to catch up with the schedule”.

Young replied to his tweet and said, “Actually, iPhone 14 Max panel shipments have always been behind. Not sure why. Perhaps they have modest volume targets for this one”. This new information has given rise to the speculation that the iPhone 14 might witness a split release. Also read: iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max, display feature leaked!

iPhone 14 leaks suggest it might be headed for a split release

A split release in this context essentially means that different iPhone 14 models can be split into different dates for their first sale. Previously we saw a split release for the iPhone 12 which was launched in 2020. The models were made available in the market on different dates due to the ongoing pandemic. However, this has only happened twice in the entire history of iPhones and it will be interesting to see whether the Cupertino-based tech giant actually takes this route.

If it does happen, it might not even be completely unplanned as Young's tweet suggests that the development of the iPhone 14 Max model has always been running a little behind schedule. However, please note that none of this information has come from any official sources and at the end of the day, they are mere speculations. There is a possibility that none of it might come true. So, do take this information with a pinch of salt.
