Nokia 5.3 India launch expected soon as HMD Global sends press invites for a virtual briefing

Nokia 5.3 comes with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 665 chipset, a 4,000mAh battery and Android 10. Here is everything you need to know.

Shortly after Nokia 5.3 was listed on the company’s India website, HMD Global has sent out press invites for the smartphone. This isn’t exactly a launch event but a press briefing for Nokia product announcements. HMD Global is expected to launch the Nokia 5.3 in India, and there could be some more phones as well.

The press briefing invite doesn’t specifically mention Nokia 5.3 but with the product listing, it’s most likely this smartphone. The invite also mentions “product announcements” hinting that there could be more than one Nokia phone. There has been quite a lot of buzz around the upcoming Nokia smartphone launches. Then there’s the Nokia 8.3 5G which launched in March and is expected to go on sale this month.

As for the Nokia 5.3, the smartphone has already made its debut and it costs 189 euros which translates to roughly 16,800. Nokia 5.3 comes with a 6.55-inch HD+ display and a waterdrop notch on top. The smartphone is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 665 processor paired with 3GB, 4GB and 6GB RAM options. It comes with 64GB of internal storage that’s expandable up to 512GB.

For photography, Nokia 5.3 sports a quad-camera setup of 13-megapixel, 2-megapixel depth sensor, 5-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 2-megapixel macro sensor. It has an 8-megapixel front camera for selfies.

Nokia 5.3 packs a 4,000mAh battery. On the software front, Nokia 5.3 runs Android 10 which is on the Android One platform. Its colour options include Cyan, Sand and Charcoal. Nokia 5.3 also has the 3.5mm headphone jack and a dedicated Google Assistant button like most other Nokia phones.
