It is July already and Nothing Phone (1) launch is only two weeks away. And rumours are also pointing at a possible pre-order happening any day now, which is a big deal for those who have joined the waitlist. The Nothing Phone (1) has been super hyped and is expected to be the next big thing in the world of mid range affordable smartphones. We have already seen how the phone looks and rumours have already told us what we can expect under the hood.

Hence, if you are waiting to pre-order the Nothing Phone (1), or joined the waitlist, there are a couple of things you need to know about the Nothing Phone (1). Unlike Carl Pei's previous company, the Nothing Phone (1) is not going to be a flagship smartphone and that could set the tone for Nothing. For consumers, it could change a lot of things too. Have a look at how we think this phone could change the way we perceive affordable midrange phones.

Nothing Phone (1) could change things

All about design

The Nothing Phone (1) stresses highly on the design. Midrange phones have mostly stuck with bland designs, and doing the same old thing again and again. Nothing breaks the perception with a new age design that is all about transparency. And those Glyph interface lights are certainly going to change the way we look at smartphone notifications.

Clever specifications

The Nothing Phone (1) is sticking to cost-effective specs instead of going all out, which is a good thing in today's times. Having a midrange chipset and most common kinds of specs helps keep the prices low, which is what Nothing is aiming for. After all, it is accessibility that helps sell a brand new hyped smartphone.

Other than the cost, the specs are just efficient and enough for its target audiences. Nothing isn't gunning for gamers and hence, having a midrange Snapdragon 778G+ chipset makes sense. If Nothing OS is well optimised, the phone could be fast and smooth and maybe able to run casual games with ease.

Then there's the display, which is expected to be a 6.5-inch FHD+ OLED display with a variable refresh rate of 120Hz. Again, on par with most midrange Android devices but that variable refresh rate is an ace up its sleeve.

The phone will have a 4500mAh battery, which is again in line with the competition and good enough to go for a whole day. The presence of a 45W charging isn't going to excite geeks but should be enough.

And that's the theme – all of it is enough. Even the cameras are said to have a 50MP main sensor on the back, along with a 16MP ultra-wide camera. The front camera could have a 16MP sensor as well.

Accessibility

Nothing did that with its first earbuds last year by going for an affordable pricing and Nothing are repeating the same for the Phone (1). Rumours suggest that the Phone (1) could have a starting price of just under Rs. 35,000. For a Snapdragon 778G+ phone, this could be expensive but the rest of the user experience could justify the premium. Nothing has relied on hype and once the initial bunch of reviews go up, expect Nothing to spread it like a wildfire.
