Google just announced its Pixel 4a smartphone. If you have been following the ‘a' line of Pixel handsets, you must be aware that it is primarily aimed for developing markets such as India. With these, the search giant aims to keep its grip intact in such markets as they deliver some flagship-grade features at a more affordable price tag. Pixel 4a does just that. And yes, it is coming to India as well. However, the wait will go on for weeks.

Why?

That's because Google Pixel 4a, although introduced globally and launched in the US, UK and some other countries, will be coming to India in October. That's two months away. It is also the time when Google usually launches the next flagship Pixel smartphone, which this year is tipped as Pixel 5.

Brian Rakowski, VP of Product Management at Google confirmed the news at the time of the launch. “This year, Pixel 4a—which launches in India in October—will continue to bring features like the incredible camera and feature drops that make your phone better over time. All of this packaged in sleek new hardware at a more affordable price,” he said.

He added that the India price of Pixel 4a will be released closer to the October launch. Also mentioned is that the Pixel 4a smartphone, like before, will be a Flipkart exclusive.

And while the non-5G version is coming late to India, the two 5G Pixel phones are not coming to India at all. “Regarding the two new 5G Pixel phones that were announced globally today, these will not be available in India or Singapore, based on a variety of factors including local market trends and product features,” explains Rakowski.
